Physician Assistant Info.

Well, I'm going to school to be a Physician Assistant which is a five year masters program. This is a growing profession which consists of health care professionals practicing under the "supervision" of a physician. Physician Assistants can diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medication, and assist in surgery. The limit on medications able to be prescribed varies by state. This profession started out in the year 1650 as military medical assistants. The idea was to have a health care professional who was successful at treating patients, but at the same time to have an accelerated program to get these medics out on the battlefield where they are so desperately needed. Nowadays, PA's work in a variety of specialties both in the hospital and in private practices.
